Ana (berdiri) saat menjadi guru kecil, mendampingi kegiatan belajar di kelompoknya.(prioritaspendidikan.org)
MATA Ana Tasya Silvi Pramudya, siswi kelas VI SDN Sumbergondo 2, Batu, Jawa Timur berbinar bangga. Cita-citanya menjadi guru kesampaian. Ia mendapat tugas khusus dari gurunya, Trihananingtyas yang akrab dipanggil Ibu Naning, untuk menjadi guru kecil. Ana adalah siswi paling pintar dan selalu tampil percaya diri di kelas. Naning menjadikannya sebagai ‘guru kecil’ atau tutor sebaya untuk membantu teman-temannya dalam pembelajaran. Tentu saja tugas ini diterima dengan gembira oleh Ana.
“Di awal-awal pembelajaran, saya menemukan banyak siswa yang masih malu-malu dan tidak percaya diri kalau diminta berdiskusi dan mempresentasikan hasil karyanya,” terang Naning. “Saya membentuk guru kecil ini agar siswa belajar menjadi pendamping, teman belajar, dan motivator bagi teman-temannya untuk mendorong keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran,” tambahnya.
Tidak Ana saja yang dapat kesempatan jadi guru kecil. Ana diminta mencari tiga teman yang dia nyaman untuk bekerja sama menjadi guru kecil lainnya. Mereka berempat akan menjadi tim guru kecil. Di luar pembelajaran, Ana dan tiga temannya didampingi Naning berlatih untuk menjadi guru kecil. Seminggu tiga kali mereka diberi pengayaan pembelajaran. “Kami juga diajari cara untuk mengajari teman yang kesulitan belajar. Kami juga saling berlatih untuk berani berpresentasi menyampaikan hasil karya kami,” kata Ana menceritakan pengalamannya menjadi guru kecil.
Pada saat pembelajaran, Ana dan ketiga temannya menyebar ke beberapa kelompok untuk menjadi pendamping sekaligus ikut belajar bersama dengan teman sekelompoknya. Kalau ada temannya yang kurang memahami isi materi pembelajaran, maka guru kecil akan berperan mendampingi siswa tersebut. Bila waktunya kurang, mereka juga melanjutkannya di luar jam pelajaran dengan belajar bersama di rumah.
Panji Laela Putri, salah seorang siswi teman Ana, mengaku senang dengan ada tamannya yang menjadi guru kecil. “Asyik bisa tanya kalau tidak bisa. Terus bisa bercanda-canda dan menambah nilai saya juga,” tukasnya.
Menurut Ana, ada saja temannya yang tidak pede tampil presentasi. “Biasanya kami memotivasi teman-teman dengan mengawali tampil presentasi secara bersama-sama. Semua mendapatkan peran dalam presentasi. Kalau sudah pernah tampil, untuk berikutnya biasanya dia mulai berani presentasi sendiri. Apalagi Bu Naning sering membuat kompetisi antar kelompok sehingga membuat kami semua lebih bersemangat untuk menampilkan yang terbaik,” urai Ana.
Naning selama ini dikenal sebagai guru yang konsisten menerapkan pembelajaran aktif di kelas. Dia dan 232.600 guru dan tenaga kependidikan di Indonesia telah dilatih oleh USAID melalui program PRIORITAS dalam menerapkan dan mengembangkan pembelajaran aktif. Para siswa yang berasal dari Desa Sumbergondo yang terletak di pinggiran hutan pinus dan perkebunan apel itu difasilitasi untuk belajar aktif, berdiskusi, memecahkan masalah, membuat hasil karya dalam pembelajaran yang ditulis dengan kata-katanya sendiri, dan dengan percaya diri mempresentasikan hasil karyanya di depan kelas.
Menurut Naning, dia memiliki ide membuat ‘guru kecil’ setelah mendapatkan inspirasi tersebut dari pelatihan pembelajaran aktif USAID PRIORITAS. “Dalam pelatihan tersebut kami belajar bagaimana cara membuat semua peserta menjadi aktif. Misalnya, dengan pemberian tugas individu atau berpasangan sebagai bahan untuk kegiatan diskusi kelompok. Peserta terbaik di dalam pelatihan dan yang sudah berhasil dalam menerapkan hasil pelatihan, bisanya juga dijadikan sebagai narasumber atau menjadi tim pendamping pelatihan,” jelas Naning.
Strategi tersebut dicontoh oleh Naning dengan memanfaatkan siswa yang pandai untuk membantu siswa lainnya. Strategi tersebut berhasil membuat semua siswa belajar aktif, lebih percaya diri, dan meningkatkan hasil belajar mereka. Mereka juga berhasil meraih peringkat 1 UASBN dari sebelumnya peringkat 15 dari 26 sekolah. “Yang juga membanggakan, tidak ada lagi kekerasan antarsiswa di sekolah karena siswa sudah terbiasa bekerja sama dalam pembelajaran,” kata Naning lagi.
Dyah Ayu Putri Rizky, orang tua Ana, mengaku senang anaknya dilibatkan menjadi guru kecil. Apalagi Ana bercita-cita ingin menjadi guru dan dosen. “Jadi dia bisa menyalurkan bakatnya di kelas dengan mengajari teman-teman sekelasnya,” ujar Dyah. Apalagi setelah anaknya menjadi guru kecil, dia melihat hasil belajar anaknya semakin meningkat. Pada hasil UASBN 2017 lalu anaknya berhasil meraih nilai tertinggi di kelasnya.
Khusnul Khotimah, orang tua salah seorang siswa kelas VI, mengaku pernah menangis haru saat melihat anaknya, Abelia Narindi Agsya, yang sebelumnya pemalu menjadi tampil percaya diri di kelas mempresentasikan hasil karya pembelajarannya. “Saya senang sekali melihat perubahan pada anak saya. Saya mendukung sekali pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan Ibu Naning,” tukas Khusnul.
Dukungan Kepemimpinan Pembelajaran
Perubahan di sekolah ini tidak lepas dari peran kepala sekolah, Sri Winarni. Dia mulai menjabat pada Juli 2014. “Awal menjadi kepala sekolah, saya menemukan banyak sekali masalah di sekolah saya. Mulai dari guru yang kurang disiplin dalam mengajar, sering terlambat, pembelajaran berjalan konvensional, bangunan kelas banyak yang rusak, dan masyarakat kurang dilibatkan dalam pengembangan sekolah. Banyak yang bilang karena ini sekolah di desa maka hal itu wajar,” kenang Sri.
Sri sempat bingung di awal menjabat. Apakah memperbaiki sarana prasarana sekolah dulu atau meningkatkan mutu guru? Di tengah kegalauannya, sekolah yang dia pimpin ditunjuk menjadi salah satu mitra USAID PRIORITAS. Kemitraan tersebut dimanfaatkan kepala sekolah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam mengajar. Dia melibatkan guru dan komite sekolah dalam merancang perubahan di sekolah. Kepala sekolah juga aktif melakukan supervisi sekaligus melakukan pendampingan kepada guru.
“Dua bulan setelah para guru dilatih, saya melihat hanya guru kelas VI yang sudah menerapkan pembelajaran aktif. Lalu saya melibatkan guru tersebut untuk menjadi model rujukan dan pendamping bagi guru lainnya dalam menerapkan hasil pelatihan USAID PRIORITAS,” katanya. Seminggu sekali para guru melakukan kegiatan kelompok kerja guru (KKG) sekolah. Mereka saling melihat dan memberi masukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran.
Kini semua guru sudah menerapkan pembelajaran aktif. Di dalam pembelajaran siswa sudah dibentuk kelompok-kelompok kecil untuk belajar secara kooperatif. Pajangan hasil karya siswa mulai kelas I sampai kelas VI, sudah memperlihatkan kemampuan belajar berpikir tingkat tinggi. Di kelas I, tampak pajangan hasil karya siswa siswa membuat laporan hasil wawancara dengan orang tuanya tentang ciri-ciri dirinya sendiri saat mulai baru lahir sampai usia 7 tahun. Di kelas II, siswa menggambar benda-benda segi empat yang ada di kelas dan mendeskripsikan dengan kata-katanya sendiri.
Di jenjang kelas yang lebih tinggi, seperti kelas IV sampai VI, hasil karya siswa tampak lebih menantang, terstruktur, dan ditulis dengan kalimat yang lebih panjang. Seperti di kelas VI siswa membuat laporan percobaan rangkaian listrik paralel dan seri, serta keuntungan dan kerugiannya.
Masyarakat Mendukung keberhasilan pembelajaran
Sekolah ini juga mendapat dukungan yang besar dari masyarakat, terutama dalam mendukung kebutuhan pembelajaran aktif di kelas. Kepala sekolah telah berhasil meyakinkan orangtua siswa sehingga dukungan orangtua kepada sekolah saat ini begitu luar biasa. Yusron Ubaidillah, ketua komite sekolah, menyebut untuk meyakinkan orang tua, dia bersama kepala sekolah dan guru rutin mengajak orang tua siswa yang banyak berprofesi sebagai petani dan pedagang untuk melihat proses pembelajaran anaknya di kelas. Sekolah mengundang beberapa orang tua siswa secara bergiliran untuk melihat keaktifan siswa belajar di kelas.
“Kami membuat open house pembelajaran di kelas. Kami ingin menunjukkan kepada orang tua implementasi program peningkatan mutu pembelajaran di kelas. Cara ini untuk meyakinkan orang tua agar mau ikut terlibat dalam program peningkatan mutu pembelajaran anaknya,” kata Yusron.
Kehadiran orang tua siswa di kelas, membuat guru semakin termotivasi untuk mengajar yang membuat siswa belajar aktif. Setelah melihat proses pembelajaran di kelas, orang tua menjadi lebih percaya untuk membantu kebutuhan guru dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran aktif. Sebulan sekali ada pertemuan antara guru kelas dengan paguyuban kelas untuk membahas kebutuhan pembelajaran setiap kelas.
Orang tua siswa di semua kelas berduyun-duyun membantu peningkatan mutu pembelajaran di kelas. Bentuk dukungan yang diterima guru kelas tidak dalam bentuk uang tapi dalam bentuk ATK, alat dan bahan untuk praktikum, buku-buku bacaan, dll.
Untuk membangun transparansi dan menjaga kepercayaan masyarakat, sekolah juga memajangkan laporan keuangan sekolah di papan pajangan yang dapat dilihat oleh siapa saja. “Keterbukaan ini membuat sekolah lebih mudah mendapat kepercayaan dari masyarakat untuk ikut membantu sekolah,” kata Yusron bangga.
Bahkan pada tahun 2017 lalu, paguyuban kelas ikut membantu perbaikan ruang kelas yang didesain menjadi kelas tematik. Setiap kelas memiliki tema atau konsep yang berbeda-beda. Semua ruang kelas diberi lukisan atau mural yang menarik sesuai tema. Seperti di ruang kelas 1, tema yang diangkat mengenal musim dan cuaca. Tembok-tembok di kelas dilukis tentang macam-macam musim dan cuaca. Sementara di kelas 2 diberi lukisan yang bertema satwa laut yang diidentikkan dengan aneka jenis ikan laut dan juga biota laut lainnya. Sedangkan di kelas 3 terdapat lukisan bertema siklus air. Lukisan yang ada menggambarkan tentang siklus air mulai dari menguap hingga menjadi hujan.
Begitu pula dengan tiga kelas lainnya, semua juga diberi lukisan mural dengan tema berbeda. Kelas 4 mengambil tema rantai makanan, kelas 5 bertema cara makhluk hidup menyesuaikan dengan lingkungannya, dan kelas 6 bertema tentang antariksa.
Bukan tanpa alasan, semua itu sengaja dilakukan pihak sekolah agar suasana kelas lebih menyenangkan sehingga siswa tidak bosan belajar di dalam kelas. Apalagi lukisan tersebut bisa menjadi media pembelajaran. Pembuatan kelas bertema ini sepenuhnya difasilitasi paguyuban kelas, baik tenaga maupun alat dan bahan untuk pengecatan.
Ditunjuk Menjadi Sekolah Rujukan
Perubahan yang terjadi di SDN Sumbergondo 2 ini membuat Pemerintah Kota Batu melalui dinas pendidikan menunjuk sekolah ini menjadi sekolah rujukan bagi sekolah lainnya. “Banyak guru, kepala sekolah, dan pengawas sekolah yang melakukan studi visit ke SDN Sumbergondo 2, khususnya untuk belajar implementasi pembelajaran aktif, budaya baca, manajamen berbasis sekolah dan peran serta masyarakat,” kata Mistin Kepala Dinas Pendidikan Kota Batu.
Dia juga berkomitmen untuk menyebarluskan program USAID PRIORITAS ke sekolah-sekolah nonmitra di Kota Batu. Dinas pendidikan pada tahun 2016 lalu, telah mengalokasikan dana dua ratus juta rupiah untuk melatih guru-guru dari sekolah-sekolah nonmitra USAID PRIORITAS “Kami mendorong dan memfasilitasi kepala sekolah dan guru-guru di Kota Batu untuk belajar ke SDN Sumbergondo 2. Kami mau semua sekolah di Batu sama berkualitasnya seperti sekolah ini,” kata Mistin lagi.
Inisiatif yang dilakukan oleh SDN Sumbergondo 2 Batu, juga telah disebarluaskan di banyak sekolah-sekolah di Indonesia. Kepala sekolah beberapa kali berkesempatan berbagi pengalaman perubahan di sekolahnya kepada teman sejawat kepala sekolah lainnya. Pengalaman yang dipaparkan selalu memberi inspirasi kepada pelaku pendidikan lain. Bahkan banyak yang awalnya pesimistis , setelah mendengar paparan kepala sekolah dan melihat pembelajaran di sekolah ini langsung optimistis dan berharap bisa mengadopsi cara yang dilakukan Kepala SDN Sumbergondo 2.(prioritaspendidikan.org)
